Among the most beautiful places in Plzeň are the Křižikovy Gardens with picturesque ponds and open areas. They often host street concerts. And the dungeon can be safely called the most mystical attraction. Underground labyrinths arose even at the time of the founding of Pilsen. Brno

In the historical region of Moravia, at the confluence of Svratka and Svitava, Brno is located - a city in many respects unique and deserving of the love of the Czechs themselves. It was here that the legendary Přemyslid dynasty ruled from the 12th century, and under the Habsburgs the city became the capital of Moravia. Many Czechs consider Brno to be the true capital of the country. And the city is trying to match this, including in terms of culture.

Here are concentrated the best theaters Czech Republic and galleries, festivals are held. The city is filled with sights. Enchanting Olomouc is in no way inferior to Prague and Brno in beauty. It is located in Moravia, on the banks of the Morava River. In the past, the city was known as the capital of Moravia (until the 12th century), and then experienced a strong influence of Austria - for this reason, even Czech here was superseded by German.

To visit Prague means to make brief digression in Czech history. But to visit other cities of this country means to understand its soul. All of them will certainly surprise you with the beauty of the streets frozen in time, gastronomic traditions and architectural monuments, by which you can recognize the real Czech Republic.

The diverse and friendly Czech capital is visited by several million tourists every year. One of the most popular sights among the guests of Prague is Charles Bridge, the hallmark of the city. The fact is that wherever a tourist is going, sooner or later he will have to look at him or simply be right on this bridge. In addition to it, there are as many as 17 bridges across the Vlatva River in Prague, but it is Karlov that is considered the most romantic and beautiful. The charming Gothic towers and graceful statues make it so charming.

Vysehrad Castle - whole historic district modern Prague. Built in the 10th century, it was destroyed four centuries later to be rebuilt. Today it houses the main Art Gallery Czech capital.

However, the Gothic style is one of the main "chips" of the Czech capital, and it can be observed almost everywhere. For example, St. Vitus Cathedral - one of the most beautiful in the world, built entirely in the Gothic style. The feeling of severe splendor from the contemplation of this sight is long preserved in the memory of its idle visitors. In this gloomy architectural style the famous Prague Castle was built, originally built as a castle, but serving as the residence of the Czech president.

However, Wenceslas and Old Town Squares in Prague are dominated by more peaceful cityscapes. People usually come here to stare at the statue of Prince Wenceslas, at the beautiful buildings and monuments of the Middle Ages, as well as at the famous Old Town chimes.

Other sights of the Czech Republic

Oddly enough, sometimes the titles of attractions are assigned to individual cities. For the Czech Republic, such cities are Karlovy Vary - a resort city famous for its hospitals built near numerous sources of healing thermal waters. But in addition to the glory of the city-sanatorium, Karlovy Vary is a recognized center of the Czech "gingerbread" style: all these colorful houses, picturesque parks and gardens, coupled with buildings of various architectural trends, will not leave guests resort town indifferent!

Among the castles of the Czech Republic, the most famous are Karlštejn, a modern symbol of Czech statehood, and the fabulously beautiful Hluboka nad Vlatva, which is erected on a rock 83 meters high.

Another notable town - Kutná Hora - is famous for its unique and gloomy Ossuary Church. The name speaks for itself: the church is literally built on the bones of corpses that were brought here during the medieval plague. The sight is as impressive as it is sinister!

Sights of the Czech Republic. The most important and interesting sights of Czech cities: photos and videos, descriptions and reviews, location, sites.

Czech Republic is not so big country, but the number of attractions here is truly impressive, so you should not limit yourself to visiting one capital.

Take, for example, the town of Kutna Hora. Its name is little known, but visiting Kutna Hora, you will be impressed for a lifetime (although, famous monument in this city refers, rather, to death). We are talking about the Ossuary, a church created from four tens of thousands of human bones. Getting to the chilling sights is easy - Kutna Hora is an hour's drive from the Czech capital.

Previously, silver was mined in the town, thanks to the successful progress of this noble cause, Kutna Hora was actually the financial capital, the second most important city in the Czech Republic after Prague. surviving grandeur and architectural appearance cities allow the local authorities to hold an annual Medieval show here. It takes place in the summer, gathers tens of thousands of guests and includes jousting tournaments, competitions under open sky, street performances and other events typical of antiquity.

It is hard to imagine a trip to this country without seeing at least one castle. But in total in the Czech Republic there are more than one and a half thousand ...

Brno is famous for its Peter and Paul Cathedral. This is a cathedral, its construction in the Gothic style arose on the site of the original temple, and after that it was repeatedly rebuilt, which led to the transition to neo-Gothic. The cathedral is famous not only for its aesthetic perfection, but also for the fact that its clock strikes noon an hour earlier, at 11-00, in memory of the events of 1645, when, according to legend, the local bell ringer saved the city besieged by the Swedes with an “untimely” ringing. Also, in memory of the liberation from the Swedes, every year in August, the Brno authorities arrange a holiday, a historical reconstruction with all the attributes: staged battles and colorful performances.

It is hard to imagine a trip to this country without seeing at least one castle. But in the Czech Republic there are more than one and a half thousand of them ... This is Rožmberk over the Vltava, the foundation stretching into the Šumava mountains, and the Orlik castle, built on a small rock in the middle of the lake, and the fortress in the city of Tabor, and the Karlštejn castle on the mountain, which is on bank of the Berounka river and built especially for Charles IV, and an incomparable romantic castle Deep above the Vltava, and the castle of Zvikov, which is called the "king of the castles of the Czech Republic", and Cherven Lhot, in which more than 30 fairy tales and historical films were shot, and Sychrov - a carved romantic miracle of architecture, and a castle in the middle of the city of Ceske Budejovice, called Bohemian Florence .

The famous national park Czech paradise located almost on the border with Poland and Germany. Today Bohemian Paradise is a geopark protected by UNESCO. Humprecht Castle and the important strategic fortress Kost are masterpieces of architecture and architecture of these places.

The Czech Republic is as inconceivable without beer as it is without castles. The city of Pilsen is considered to be the beer capital here, which gave the name to the popular drink variety all over the world. Dreaming of the “beer” glory of Bavaria, the Pilsners managed to attract German brewers to their city, eventually achieving a result that could compete with the Germans. Therefore, Pilsen, founded in the 13th century, took the palm in the production of beer in the country in the 19th century. The Brewery Museum will tell travelers in detail about the history of this drink in these parts. Theory is best supported by practice - the Pilsensky Prazdroj brewery will help you with this (its cellars stretched as much as 10 kilometers!). Here you can taste the famous beer that the Czech Republic supplies to the whole world.

In addition to beer, the city also produces world-famous Skoda cars. And in Pilsen there is the widest square in the country - the Republic Square, whose length and width are 139 and 193 m, respectively. Pilsen is the city of the third largest (after Budapest and Jerusalem) synagogues in the world.

But not everyone prefers beer to other delicacies and delicious products. There is an opinion that those who do not like alcohol love sweets. The Czech Republic prepared a gift for them too - the wonderful town of Pardubice, famous for the production of gingerbread, unique in taste and appearance.

Gingerbread from this city is fully consistent with its name, originating from the word "spices". The composition of local sweets includes anise, coriander, mint, pepper, and much more.

From about the middle of the 19th century, the production of gingerbread in Pardubice took such a beautiful shape - confectioners began to compete in the manufacture of an endangered delicacy by all existing methods. The most exotic ingredients began to be added to the composition of the dough, the icing was cooked from the most delicious syrups, sweets were covered with an exquisite mixture of fragrant crumbs, creams, and powders. Over time, gingerbread from Pardubice became a real calling card cities, they took the form of houses, town halls, churches, gnomes, animals and birds. Recipes for dough, powders, powder, syrups, fillers are still a secret.

With decor and decorations in Pardubice, everything is in order. And this is expressed not only in gingerbread. The interest of the tourist will be aroused by the local Renaissance-style mansions with facades decorated with scenes from the Bible. The most famous of them in Pardubice is the building "U Jonash" (At Jonah). It is decorated with embossed whales swallowing the prophet Jonah, who, according to legend, spent three days inside the whale. The center of Pardubice is decorated with the Green Gate Tower and the Church of St. Bartholomew.

It seems that all the traveler's dreams come true in the Czech Republic: tasty food, famous beer, fascinating sights and medieval architecture, survived even the devastating European history. But, unfortunately, many tourists do not plan the route beyond the borders Prague, although the Czech Republic has a lot to offer amazing cities for travel. Where to go to take a break from the crowded capital and expand your horizons?

Although Cesky Krumlov is second only to Prague in terms of attendance, the number of tourists who come here pales in comparison to Prague's visitors. Meanwhile, the historical center is completely a property of world culture. This is easy to understand by looking at old streets and incredibly well-preserved medieval buildings. Český Krumlov is like a postcard: beautiful day or night, from the castle tower or from any other vantage point.

If any city needs an introduction, it is definitely not Karlovy Vary. Familiar to the Russian aristocracy since ancient times, even today it is considered a place where you can heal the soul and body. Known for its mineral springs, surrounding slopes, varied walking routes, Karlovy Vary is completely capable of falling in love with the colorful architecture of the city center.

But, of course, the main reason to come to Karlovy Vary is the springs. Mostly their water is used for drinking, but local sanatoriums and complexes offer wellness baths, swimming in the pool and other therapeutic procedures.

By world standards, Brno is a young city. Many call it the younger sister of Prague, culturally not inferior to the capital. There are numerous museums in Brno, including the Moravian Gallery. It contains a wide collection of traditional art and exhibits from different eras. The main monuments are concentrated in the center of Brno: gothic cathedrals, town halls, renaissance and baroque buildings. If you have time, you can go to Slavkov, which is famous for the Battle of Austerlitz.

Pilsen

The name of the city is certainly associated with the famous beer - there are really a lot of decent restaurants where a variety of this drink is offered. But there are also many attractions.

First, it is worth seeing the Cathedral, on top of which there is Observation deck. This is the best point for observing the amazing panoramas of Pilsen. After that, you should definitely go to the city hall - a monument of the Renaissance. You can also look into the Brewery Museum, where they will not only show you around the exposition, but also organize a tour to the brewery. The Historical Dungeon originates here, penetrating the entire Old City.

One cannot but agree with those who call Telč the most beautiful Czech city. This once sleepy and miniature settlement at one time suffered from terrible fires. The efforts of the Italian craftsmen and architects that have been applied to the restoration of Telč are impressive. To be convinced of this, it is worth making a trip to the Telč Castle with elements of Italian decor, lakes, museum exposition and a greenhouse.
